There were more things to do on one's honeymoon than have sex or lie about, and while that would have been just fine, occasionally one needed to stretch one's legs. Which was why the Doctor, clad only in boxer briefs, and Chase, similarly less than clothed, were on the beach as the sun started to set, playing a rough and tumble rugby scrimmage.

There was no one else about to care about sand and dirt, and the beach was soft enough to make for decent landing. All in all, there was quite a bit of laughter and not so much fair play. But rules didn't really apply.

Chase shrugged at that, fingers resting on the Doctor's hip. "Keep saying I am and then no one expects too much, you know?" he said, quietly.

"I always expected everything," the Doctor noted, slowly running his fingers through Chase's hair. "Still do."

Okay and now Chase was confused for real. "Everything?" he asked, turning to peer at the Doctor, taking his right hand and toying with the ring.

"And nothing," the Doctor said. "I think you can do everything you like. And I don't expect you to do it, per se."

"Ah, but," Chase countered with a smug little grin. "You were my boyfriend and now are my husband. You're obligated to have faith in me."

"I did even before," the Doctor said, scowling at Chase.

Chase gave a broad laugh. "What, that magical one week you knew me just as a friend?" he teased, giving the Doctor a dubious look with a wide grin.

The Doctor got that look he had when he knew his argument was slipping out from under him but he wasn't going to admit it. "Yeeeeesss?"

Chase toyed idly with the Doctor's chest. "And, correct me," he offered. "If I'm wrong, but didn't you say you had it for me since...what, like, our first kiss?"

"Maybe," the Doctor said, looking slightly shifty. He blinked a few times.

Chase was full-on grinning now, picking up steam. "So then, really, you were my friend for exactly two days before you fancied me."

"Oh, come off it." The Doctor blushed and ducked his head.

Chase was still laughing, arms around the Doctor's waist as he leaned in and kissed him. "Nope," he said, simply. "Since it took me a good couple weeks to catch up to you being smitten, you'll hear all about it."

"Fine, let's hear about you being smitten," the Doctor said, definitively. He wriggled a bit in Chase's arms.

Chase took a deep breath and pretended to think heavily on the subject, mouth still open. "Uhhhhh..." he slowly thought back. "Hold on...I'm sure I know this."

"Do you have to study?" the Doctor asked.

Chase smirked and leaned down to kiss the Doctor. "Okay, okay, smitten," he said, dutifully. "First time we had sex was good, but not there. Letters helped...but it really had to be...the dance. When I really started going head over heels."

The Doctor's brows went up. "You hate to dance," he said, "I don't know how that really worked, but I suppose..."

"I hate to dance," Chase agreed, completely serious. "But when I was there and dancing with you, everything faded. And then you got sick, and I got so terrified and I was sick to my stomach for a week that I'd lose you."

"You were the best angel doctor one could ask for," the Doctor suggested, smiling slowly at him. "Still are."

Chase smiled at that, leaning in with the Doctor, now that the sun had gone down. "I'll promise to keep it that way," he murmured, settling in, pressed in as close as he could get. "Love you," he said seriously, settling in after a long, happy day.

The Doctor leaned over and brushed some sand off Chase's forehead before kissing him. "Love you too," he said, firmly. "Always."
